Our privacy policy: what we do not collect
Readers need no account, and the site asks them for no personal details. It carries no advertising and no advertising trackers, and it does not sell or share information about its readers.
Information we collect
Server logs. Like most websites, our host records technical data such as IP addresses, browser type, referring pages and the time of each request, for security and maintenance. These records are kept for a limited period and are not used to identify readers.
Analytics. Where analytics are enabled, visits are measured in aggregate with Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies under its own terms. You can block them in your browser settings.
Messages. If you write to us, we keep your message and your address so that we can reply, and for no other purpose.
Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is handled by our mailing service under its own privacy terms, and you can unsubscribe at any time from any newsletter you receive.
Donations. Gifts are handled by the payment provider named on the Donate page, under its own privacy terms. We receive confirmation of a gift and never see your card or account details.
Stored on your device
Your choice of light or dark reading mode is remembered in your own browser’ storage, so that the site opens in the mode you chose. It is never sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes it. WordPress sets cookies only for people who sign in to manage the site.
Fonts and images
The typefaces and photographs used on the site are served from our own server, so reading an article does not send your address to a font service or image host.
Your rights
You may ask us what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or erase it. Use the Contact us page to make a request, and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Changes
Any change to how reader information is handled will appear here with a new revision date.
